Why Building Your Creativity Matters

This week, we are going to shift gears a little bit to talk about creativity.

Although perhaps it isn't apparent, being creative plays a large role in technology, whether it's through the obvious - like digital artistry or posting interesting content - to the more utilitarian like being able to think outside of the box to solve problems.

Solving problems, as we know, is the life blood of building business, programming and doing cool things with VR and other emerging technologies.

So, with that in mind, we wanted to explore creativity for a minute.

Why is it important to develop your creativity? Here are 7 reasons creativity should be developed and explored as deeply as possible:

Creativity helps you solve problems. When faced with a problem, creativity can help you come up with new and innovative solutions. This is because creativity allows you to think outside the box and see things from different perspectives. That flexibility provides value both as an employee and as an employer.

Creativity helps you be more productive. When you are creative, you are more likely to come up with new ideas and solutions. This can help you be more productive in your work and personal life.

Creativity helps you be more successful. In today's world, creativity is essential for success. Employers seek employees who can look at a problem from a different angle and seamlessly provide suggestions. In addition, creativity can lead to you working for yourself if you take the right approach to a widespread problem. New ideas are a currency.

Creativity helps you be more satisfied with your life. When you are creative, you are more likely to enjoy your life and feel fulfilled. This is because creativity allows you to express yourself and explore your full potential. A creative mind solves problems naturally, even internal problems like being a positive person in the face of adversity.

Creativity helps you be more resilient. When you are creative, you are more likely to bounce back from setbacks and challenges. This is because creativity allows you to see the silver lining in every situation.

Creativity helps you be more connected to others. Interpersonal connections with those who share your interests come much more naturally and fluidly when you are creative. This can help you build strong relationships and feel supported.

Creativity helps you make a difference in the world. When you are creative, you can use your skills to make a positive impact on the world. This can be done through your work, your hobbies, or your volunteer work.

These are just a few of the many reasons why it is important to develop your creativity. If you want to be more successful, satisfied, and connected, then it is important to nurture your creative side.

Here are tips on how to develop your creativity.

  • Expose yourself to new things. The more you expose yourself to new ideas and experiences, the more creative you will be. This is partially because being creative becomes an expected part of your routine and you have more information to reach back to.

  • Don't be afraid to fail. Failure is a part of the creative process. Don't let it discourage you from trying new things.

  • Be open to different perspectives. See things from different angles. This will help you come up with new and innovative ideas. The most creative people have learned from the best and then put their own spin on other people's thoughts and lessons.

  • Don't be afraid to take risks. This is how you will learn and grow as a creative person.

  • Have fun! Creativity should be enjoyable. If you're not having fun, you're less likely to be creative.

So, there you have it! 7 reasons why it is important to develop your creativity and 5 tips for doing so.

Now ... go create!
